Why not try this very simple Calzone recipe to encourage parents and children to cook together and try new foods? Take a look at Lee’s basic recipe and add herbs and vegetables or just serve with a side of salad.
Ingredients for 1 calzone
1 x 10 inch tortilla wrap
1 teaspoon tomato puree
1 tablespoon grated cheddar cheese
I egg, beaten
Method
Pre-heat oven to 180c
- Place the wrap on a flat surface, spread the tomato puree on one half of the wrap leaving 2cm from the edge.
- Cover the tomato puree with the cheese.
- Egg wash around the edge of the covered wrap and fold over the other half and seal together.
- Take a fork and crimp around the edge of the calzone until the seal is tight, we don’t want cheese melting out.
- Egg wash the outside of the wrap and place on a oven tray.
- Put in the pre-heated oven on the middle shelf for 8 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
- Serve with a salad on the side.
