If your child is now starting reception, please see information below regarding their growth, vision and hearing assessments which will take place in reception year.

  • In reception, all children will be seen to assess their growth, vision and hearing.
  • The child-friendly assessment takes place in school
  • Undiagnosed difficulties can seriously affect a child’s learning and your child will be referred on to other services if necessary
  • Growth data from reception and Year six is included in the National Child Measurement Programme

A letter will be sent out prior to your child being assessed for their growth, vision and hearing to inform you of the process. You can also contact the school nursing team on: 0300 123 7572 if you would like further advice pre and post your child having these assessments.
