Autumn Term – Flu\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tProtect your child\/young person. The vaccine will help protect your child against flu and serious complications such as bronchitis and pneumonia
\n \tThe children\\’s nasal spray flu vaccine is safe and effective. It\\’s offered every year to children to help protect them against\u00a0flu
\n \tProtect you, your family and friends. Vaccinating your child will help protect more vulnerable friends and family
\n \tThe nasal spray helps protect against flu, has been given to millions of children worldwide and has an excellent safety record
\n \tIf your child gets flu, you may have to take time off work or arrange alternative childcare
\n \tSchools will send a letter to parents shortly before the vaccinations are planned to ask for their or their child\\’s consent
\n \tChildren who are home educated will also be offered the vaccine, provided they\\’re in an eligible school age group<\/p>\n

Spring Term – DTP\/MenACWY – Year 9<\/p>\n
\tThe teenage booster, also known as the 3-in-1 or the Td\/IPV vaccine, is given to boost protection against 3 separate diseases: tetanus,\u00a0diphtheria\u00a0and\u00a0polio
\n \tThe MenACWY vaccine protects against serious infections like meningitis
\n \tIt\\’s an injection given into the muscle of the upper arm
\n \tThe 3-in-1 teenage booster is free on the NHS for all young people aged 14, as part of the\u00a0national immunisation programme.
\n \tIt\\’s routinely given at secondary school (in school year 9) at the same time as the\u00a0MenACWY vaccine
\n \tSchools will send a letter to parents shortly before the vaccinations are planned to ask for their or their child\\’s consent
\n \tChildren who are home educated will also be offered the vaccine, provided they\\’re in an eligible school age group<\/p>\n

Summer Term – HPV Year 8 (now only one dose)<\/p>\n
\tThe HPV vaccine reduces your chances of getting\u00a0human papillomavirus (HPV), a common virus that\\’s spread through skin contact
\n \tMost types of HPV are harmless. But some types are linked to an increased risk of certain types of cancer
\n \tThe HPV vaccine is given as an injection into muscle of your upper arm
\n \tSince the vaccine has been used, there has been a big drop in the number of young people getting conditions linked to HPV
\n \tResearch suggests that over time the HPV vaccine will help save thousands of lives in the UK
\n \tSchools will send a letter to parents shortly before the vaccinations are planned to ask for their or their child\\’s consent
\n \tChildren who are home educated will also be offered the vaccine, provided they\\’re in an eligible school age group<\/p>\n
