Helping parents and carers to get fit.

Parents and carers in Nottinghamshire are being invited to take part in healthy initiatives run by the Notts County Foundation.
The Foundation runs the Healthy Hearts programme, which aims to deliver physical exercise sessions to participants who may be affected by low-risk heart disease diagnosis.
This could range from anyone who has had a long family history of heart disease to an early diagnosis of a condition which could lead to a heart condition.
However, even though they prescribe physical exercise to reduce the chances of being diagnosed with any heart disease, they want to make sure that participants feel that they are in safe environment, which is why they want to focus on mental health and wellbeing within the programme.
The next Healthy Hearts cohort will start on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022, from 5:30pm to 7pm at the Portland Centre in Nottingham. Sessions will run weekly for 8 weeks.
Healthy Hearts is aimed at people aged 18 and over to prevent heart conditions developing. It is for those with minor heart issues or who are at risk of heart issues such as diabetes, angina, and with a history of family heart problems, plus people looking to improve their cardiovascular fitness.
The Foundation also runs the Fit Fans initiative.
Fit Fans helps people to achieve long-term improvements in weight loss, physical activity, diet and general wellbeing.
Participants on average lost over 5 per cent of their body weight during the 12-week programme.
A spokesperson said: “With Fit Fans, you will be able to meet other football fans on the same journey as you, learn how to make better choices to improve your lifestyle and health, be supported through your journey by the club staff, and have 12 free weekly sessions at your local football club. ”
Fit Fans is aimed at people aged between 35 and 65 years who have a BMI of 28-plus and a waist measurement of more than 38in for men and 31in for women.
The next Fit Fans cohort starts on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022, from 5pm to 7pm at the Portland Centre and sessions will run for 12 weeks.
