All you need to know from the Community Public Health Nursing Service for your school and pupils. This is a new termly news-in-brief bulletin.

 About us: 

Our service works with children and young people aged 5-19 to support their health and emotional wellbeing needs within school, home and community settings. The service follows the Healthy Child Programme, designed from evidence by the UK Government to support the public health of children and families. The programme is based on six areas of health and wellbeing:   

  • Healthy lifestyles, exercise, nutrition 
  • Physical activity
  • Personal hygiene
  • Oral health
  • Emotional wellbeing such as managing feelings and coping strategies
  • Smoking, vaping and substance abuse

The Community Public Health Nursing Service may be able to offer your school an age-appropriate health and wellbeing presentation for pupils, depending on local need and data.

ChatHealth is a confidential and anonymous text messaging service, a public health nurse will respond to your health queries and will help with advice or signposting.

Referrals to our service:  

Some things take a little longer to work through. Refer in for on-going concerns your child’s emotional wellbeing, growth concerns, fussy eating or ways to increase physical activity and reduce portion sizes.

School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS): 

A new e-consent system, Manage Vaccinations in School (MAVIS) will soon be introduced to help simplify the school vaccination consent process. MAVIS will contact parents directly for consent, reducing administration for schools. Future vaccination consent requests will come from the NHS rather than the school.
