Parent’s Stay Well Guide for children aged 0-9 years
Stay home, stay well this winter
Children often get poorly, as their immune systems are still developing and they frequently come into contact with new germs. This is even more so during winter, as seasonal illnesses like flu and colds increase. The good news is that these can often be treated at home.
The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust has created the Stay Home, Stay Well guide to support parents and carers of children aged 0 to 9 years. The guide gives you simple tips so you can be confident in giving home-based care to your child when treating some common health worries.
These include:
- fever
- head injury
- diarrhoea and vomiting
- breathing issues
This could save you from hours in a busy hospital waiting room or GP surgery. The guide also sets out when you should seek medical advice from an NHS service, so your child gets the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
Save this guide to the home screen of your smartphone, tablet, or PC and keep the advice in a handy place for when you next need it.
