Starting Primary School
Preparing you, your child and your family for starting primary school
How you can help prepare:
- Check your child has received their pre-school vaccination and their second MMR from the GP before starting school.
- You will receive an NCMP and school entry screening letter with information.
- Tell the school if your child has a health need before they start school.
- Medicines, inhalers and medical equipment should be clearly labelled and in date.
- If your child has a Care Plan for a health condition, please provide the school with an up-to-date plan at the beginning of the term.
- Ensure your child is registered at and attending the dentist regularly.
- Ensure your child is registered at and attending the opticians regularly.

Sign up to our portal to view some of your child’s records such as immunisations. You will also be able to view your child’s NCMP results when available. Email parent.portal@nhs.net
