We offer health reviews when a child is referred to the service. These will be carried out by a nurse and usually in a clinic setting or school.
A School Nurse Champion is a young person who volunteers to give advice to their School Nursing Service to help improve the services that young people in their area receive. Their role is to find out what other young people think about the school nursing they receive and work with staff from the School Nursing Service to advise them on any changes they should make.
The School Nursing Service provide support for children once they start in reception class at school (or if they are Home Educated once they are reception age).
The School Nursing Service works in partnership with children, young people and their families to ensure that children’s health needs are supported within their school and their community. School Nurses also work closely with Education, Social Care and other health professionals, including GP’s and Community Paediatricians to help children and young people to remain healthy and to ensure that any health needs are met. We work for the NHS and are based in community health centres
