The BHT Integrated Public Health Nursing Team, have created a series of news posts about helping your child get ready for school. These focus on communication, behaviour, wellbeing and toileting. Our Child Health and Well-being Advisors have also created this handy self checklist to help you focus on areas to support your child, so they can be ready to learn when they start school. Please download this for your own use to guide you and get support or advice to help you and your child.

What is the aim of this checklist?
We hope this checklist will help you prepare your child for school when they start in Reception Class. It is focused on your child’s overall health and emotional wellbeing at this important time in their life.

If you answer YES to any of these questions check out the links to further advice and support.

Your Health Visiting Team has a parent chat text messaging service where you can ask your specific questions also. Don’t forget to discuss any concerns with schools they can be prepared and support your child’s transition too. Health for Under 5’s Chat with a Health Visitor.
